More than a decade ago, St. John Vianney Parish started the Back from the Dead cemetery walk (backfromthedead.org)as a youth group program in conjunction with other parishes. Participants in Back from the Dead were usually students in High school Confirmation programs. The scripts for the saint-actors were from a nationally known, copyrighted program. After the lifting of Covid 19 restrictions, Back from the Dead was reinstated at Saint John Vianney Church as a catechetical and inspirational experience for any and all people. Now, in 2024, new saints and catechetical lessons have been chosen, and the cemetery walk will continue with a new name, Echoes of Grace: Heavenly Lessons from the Saints. An update from the preceding programs, the emphasis is no longer on the Four Last Things. Instead the examples of the saints will be paired with a strong emphasis on the Sacraments and the ordinary means of holiness in the Catholic life. The actors are again recruited primarily from Rice High School students.
Saturday, October 26th at 6:45pm, SJV Parish and Rice Highschool are offering again a "cemetery walk" with dramatized presentations from the saints and angels (actors are Rice students).
“Echoes of Grace: Heavenly Lessons from the Saints” passes on life-changing wisdom, with the words and witness of heavenly figures.
The walk starts at St. John Vianney Church, visiting Resurrection Park Cemtery.
Concluding the walk, we are led to the sacraments: Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the sacrament of confession are part of the evening. Come kneel before the Lord in adoration, to be changed by His true presence. Allow the gentle grace of God’s loving mercy in confession to cleanse your soul.
No reservations needed. Come to this evening walk with the saints.
