Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to discuss life and faith in an informal, fun, and friendly environment. All are invited, no matter their background or beliefs. It is free, and there is no pressure to come back. Each of the sessions begins with a meal, followed by a brief video on a broad question of faith. Guests are encouraged to participate in a small group discussion and share their views on the topic.
Season 5 of The Chosen is due to be released at the end of March. We are tentatively planning for screening and discussion weekly on Monday nights, probably beginning sometime in April. Stay tuned!
The first Sunday in May, annually; this coming year on Sunday, May 4. The walk begins in Battery Park and makes a loop around downtown Burlington. There are 2 options - the short route or the long route. Please help Team SJV raise funds to support our homeless brothers and sisters!
Sometimes, with all the different Masses we offer, a sense of community in our parish can be elusive. And so, St John Vianney church has started a Women’s Fellowship Group. Our goal is to foster a culture in which all women feel they are known and cared for in our parish family, because people grow faster spiritually in a compassionate, interactive group where they feel safe asking questions, sharing experiences, and sensing the care of others.
Please consider joining us monthly on second Fridays! We alternate between a morning session or an evening session each month.
Our next gathering will be on Friday February 14 at 9:00 AM, in the Parish Center fellowship room.
Calling all men to fellowship, prayer and a deeper faith! You are invited to participate in COR Formation. Cor is Latin for Heart. Though fraternity, prayer, and the study of God’s pursuit of souls, we intend to grow closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. COR Formation (sponsored by K of C Council 7525) is held on third Saturdays at 10 AM at Saint John Vianney Church basement in South Burlington, VT. All men are welcome. Coffee and donuts provided.
Whether life gives us trials or special celebrations, there are moments we just want to be wrapped in God's embrace. That's the space where our Prayer Shawl Ministry dwells. Care for others and the love of handwork have been combined to reach out to those in need of comfort & solace, as well as those reveling in a milestone on their life journey. Many blessings are incorporated into every shawl with intentional prayers, and worked by their crafters so that every stitch is imbued with grace.
Each month, volunteers from St John Vianney Parish prepare a meal and bring it to ANEW Place, a faith-based homeless shelter in the Old North End of Burlington. This coming month, we are looking for donations of an entree and several side dishes. We also welcome volunteers to help with the delivery and to visit & eat with the residents. Check the sign-up sheet at the top of the Mary entrance to the church for more details
